Lead Ops Engineer (P3)

Job description
As AXA continues its journey to enable first-class software engineering and operations, we’re looking for a multi-skilled / T-shaped cross-functional Ops engineer who is communicative, adaptive, team focused, solution oriented, automation driven, and enthusiastic about solving challenges.
You’ll have the opportunity to join the Open Engineering community which leads the Operation transformation and leverages cutting-edge tools, practices, and technologies to deploy, run, operate, monitor, automate the applications developed by Engineering team.

You’ll be responsible to provide the following services for the applications that runs on all platforms: Public PaaS & Cloud, Private IaaS, On-premise data center:
- Jenkins & automation management
- Release management & Continuous Deployment process
- On-boarding monitoring team
- Application configuration on production environment
- Ensure networking communication & configuration on platform
- Use of IaC (Infrastructure as code)
- Batch job design & scheduling
- Incident support
- Data extraction

Job qualification
<Qualifications>
The candidate must have the following minimum work experience and related degrees and certifications:
- 3+ years in Operations / DevOps / SRE
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field from accredited college/university or equivalent work

<Technical Skills>
The candidate must have strong knowledge of the following technologies and tools:
- Programming: Python or Shell + Java or Groovy + NodeJS
- Server: Apache / Tomcat / ExpressJS
- Databases: MySQL / PostgreSQL / MongoDB, and relational databases (e.g.; Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)
- Code Versioning: Git
- CI Server: Jenkins
- Cloud platform: AWS
- Collaboration tools: JIRA / Confluence
- Tools: SSH, terminal, Docker, Kubernetes or Openshift, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack

The candidate must have strong experience in and understanding of the following technologies and concepts:
- Configuring and implementing SOAP-based and RESTful web services
- Swagger/Open API specification and API development
- Cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
- Service Oriented Architecture and microservices architecture
- Integrating third party APIs (Google Maps, SNS, etc.)

The candidate should also have basic knowledge of the following:
- Web markup (HTML5, CSS3, etc.)
- Asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX
- Responsive web design and development

Process Skills
The candidate must be experienced in the following:
- Software Engineering best practices (Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery [CI/CD], Test Driven Development, etc.)
- All stages of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- DevOps mindset & SRE approach
- Agile software development, including Scrum and Kanban frameworks
- Software design/architecture

Soft Skills
The candidate must demonstrate the following experience and capabilities:
- Ability to work through constant change (continuous improvement)
- Ability to mentor and coach team members
- Ability to work with any technology and role to demonstrate multi-skilled / T-shaped capacity in the Engineering community
- Automation mindset
- Solution driven

Language Skills
- Business-level English (written, spoken, listening, reading) is needed daily as the operating language and to engage AXA’s global audience
- Intermediate-level Japanese with a domain-relevant vocabulary is needed daily to engage Squad members and business partners (minimum JLPT N3)

Nice to Have
- Life insurance industry work experience
- Other cloud platform knowledge (Azure, GCP)
